Fox News publicized an article written by Julie Novkov, the chairwoman of State University of New York at Albany’s political science department, in which she called Donald Trump’s supporters “overt racists” and predicted they will “provoke violence” once the president leaves office.
The article, which was written for New Political Science, highlighted by Fox News this week, Novkov wrote that Trump supporters having political power is “dangerous.”
She also wrote that Trump’s base supporters view immigrants, Muslims, African Americans, and Jews as “enemies of the American state” and that they are “inclined to embrace propaganda,” Fox News reported.
Additionally, Julie Nokov reportedly argues that Trump’s supporters are likely to riot once he leaves office, even if he wins and completes a second term. According to Nokov if Trump serves two full terms, his supporters would demand that he be permitted a third. She wrote that “state violence” would likely be necessary to control the rioting Trump supporters.
See below excerpt:
“I believe that Trumpers — the core supporters Trump has bound to himself through his consistent and persistent messaging — will not accept as legitimate any means through which he departs from the presidency. Can the Trumpers can be reincorporated into a democratic republic as engaged political actors who accept the fundamental premises of democratic governance?”
The primary question is why Fox News, of all media outlets, decided to call attention to the article? Could it to be provoke a victim complex within the Venn diagram of the portion of their viewership who supports President Trump?
