President Donald Trump’s lack of professionalism has reached a new and inevitable low.
It is being reported that Trump took a dig at both Andrew McCabe and McCabe’s wife prior to the FBI deputy director stepping down from his position. Apparently, Trump was livid that James Comey was allowed to use an FBI plane to fly home after Trump fired him from his position as Director of the FBI.
Trump placed a call to then-acting Director McCabe, asking why the flight had been allowed. McCabe informed Trump that he wasn’t asked about the flight, but would have allowed Comey use of the plane had he been asked.
Trump’s angered, ugly response was predictable. After a moment of seething silence, Trump responded by “telling [McCabe] to ask his wife what it felt like to be a loser”. Trump was referring to Mrs. McCabe, who had run as a Democrat for state office in Virginia, a race which she lost. Andrew McCabe responded to Trump’s childish comment with “Ok, sir”, before Trump disconnected the call.
I don’t know about you, but picturing an incredibly bored Andrew McCabe on the phone with a ranting and raving Donald Trump, rolling his eyes so hard he can see his brains before finally interjecting a very flat, yet cordial, “ok, sir”, gives me an unrelenting case of the giggles.
McCabe stepped down from his position with the FBI the day this incident was reported, amid constant, repeated attacks by Trump and other Republicans. Every human has their breaking point, and it would seem that serving under President Trump was McCabe’s. Who can blame him?
